AmyLeeEv: AHAA! I think I'm in the right place now. HELLO PEOPLE!

Minisara1: Hi Amy! What would be your favorite song to play live at the moment?

AmyLeeEv: Hi minisara1. This is a difficult question. We started playing homeSwimming live a few months ago, and it's really coming to life at concerts. I'm lovingtouch it, it's definitely a moment I hope the shows.

AmyLeeEv: YES! The Walking Dead is one of my favorite series right now.

EvMj7: Holy shit! Do not believe it! I do not know if you can see it but I'm speechlessnow:

AmyLeeEv: The inspiration comes from anywhere. Letters are me working onmyself, getting my heart apart and reading a lot of my subconscious. When something hurts, or just make me stronger I get inspired to spill my guts. It's great to feel that I can pour my heart into music and then be able to hear back and enjoy. It is as if he had overcome the problem, at least somewhat, by describing him as intensely.

Sofi: Hello Amy, it's true that you are working with palanejando Appocalyptica?

AmyLeeEv: no.

Fatz: Have you ever planned to do a song with Korn?

AmyLeeEv: Well, I sang with an acoustic performance during Korn Freak on a leasha few years ago. I think it was pretty cool, if you have not heard yet, you can find it onitunes or youtube.

AmyLeeEv: Thank you. I love this song too. Most of my inspiration for it was because I was really upset with my record company at the time. It is not an easy thing to make a record today. Actually, I was just checking one of the Photek remix of the song, they were planning to use it on the soundtrack of the Avengers. Very cool!

Lucas Burns: What is your favorite song from Nine Inch Nails?

AmyLeeEv: Very good question, very difficult question. I know this is one of the most popular but I guess I have to say it's Hurt, because I moved and inspired me a lot.

Rachel Proudfoot: Would you consider one of their songs being played on Glee?Just curious, P

AmyLeeEv: HA! Just try to imagine how thrilling it would be now!

James Morrow: When you're on tour you get homesick?

AmyLeeEv: We definitely feel homesick on the road sometimes. Especially whenstrain is far from home for a while. I sometimes miss my family, my cats, my bed,my kitchen, not only have every day planned for me before I wake.

Nekal Doe: What do you think of the movie "Labyronth" and / or David Browie?

AmyLeeEv: Are you kidding? Amoo! Jim Henson would have listed as one of myfavorite idols because it is. This film and "Dark Crystal" are two of my favorites ever.

Sandriux118: Moment shame / embarrassing at a concert?

AmyLeeEv: Once, at the end of a great show in Denver, as the audience wasapplauding, I cried - "THANK YOU DETROIT" "... then they stopped applauding.

John Le Compt (Ex-Evanescence/We Are The Fallen): Interview on Rock Overdose!

Rock Overdose and Zisis Petkanas had the chance to talk with the ex-Evanescence ("Fallen", "Anywhere But Home" and "The Open Door"), and We Are The Fallenmember,John Le Compt. Enjoy the interview...

Rockoverdose.gr: We First Met You In Evanescence with Two of the Most Successful Albums in the past few years , And Now You Continue In A New Band Called We Are The Fallen.Tell Us About WATF's History.

John: We Are The Fallen came together by a phone call from Ben to Rocky and myself to talk about playing music together again. We weren't sure exactly what we wanted to do yet, but were certain that it had been too long since we had made music together. We subsequently flew out to LA to jam with Ben and his friend Marty O'Brien in Ben's work studio. It was like old times, as if we hadn't missed a day. We immediately began to see that the music we wanted to make was right under our noses. After much talking and planning we decided it was time to find our singer. We had no leads as to who that might be, but suddenly an acquaintance of Ben's recommended Carly. It was a good friend who thought she would be perfect. Sure enough, we met her and had some discussion only to find out that she wanted exactly what we did. The rest is history.

Rockoverdose.gr: Do You Have Any Other Bands Apart from We Are The Fallen?

John:I also have a band with which I play with Rocky. It's called MACHINA. We have been together for about 5 years now and are planning on releasing our album, "To Live And Die In The Garden Of Eden" very soon. It has been recorded for about three years, but we have been waiting for the right label home and right time to do it. Phil Taylor of Future Leaders Of The World, is my vocalist and Thad Ables (my long time guitar tech and friend) rounds out the band on bass.

Rockoverdose.gr: I Saw You Have A New Dvd Coming Out.How Is it Called and how Can we get it?

John: It is called "Cirque Des Damnes" meaning "Circus Of The Damned". It is available via www.wearethefallen.com and also on www.benmoody.com. It was a fantasticly fun concert that we had for Ben's 30th birthday.

Rockoverdose.gr: Are there Any Plans For A Next Album?

John: Right now, we are all writing and planning our next move. It will most likely be in the form of our original idea to record and release two to three songs at a time, via download. The label thing has really burned all of us and we are much more in favor of independent release.

Rockoverdose.gr: Tear The World Down is An Amazing Album and Bury Me Alive became a great Hit in the radio stations. How is The new Album going to Differ from
the previous One?

John: I hope not much, because that is one of the proudest bodies of work I have ever been involved with. I can't help but write songs that sound like that for WATF.

Rockoverdose.gr: We Heard that You Are Collaborating With A Greek Band , Dreambleed?
Tell us About it.

John: Yes, I had the pleasure of collaborating on a track with Manolis and his Band Dreambleed . It was right up my alley and I think it's going to be a hit. I can only hope that my contribution will do the band justice as they are already quite spectacular.I wish them good luck with everything.

Rockoverdose.gr: Is There a Possibility of you Returning to Evanescence if they Ask you back?

John: I guess anything is possible, but not so much probable. I treasure that time in my life and hope that maybe one day everyone will grow up and appreciate what every individual brought to the table with that band. Only then would something like that ever be able to happen.

Rockoverdose.gr: Is there Any Chance For Your Greek Fans to Enjoy A Live performance anytime soon?

John: I certainly hope so. I love Greece and the fans there. It's been many years, but when I was there I took so many photographs and couldn't believe that I had made it there. The fans were so amazing. It was quite a memory that I hope to repeat someday.
Evanescence 2003

Rockoverdose.gr: Do You Think That illegal Downloading Music Is helping Or Destroying Bands and Artists?

John: It most certainly has torn down the industry and taken the bread out of the artists mouth. I understand that making music isn't about getting rich and all that, but if the artist has no incentive or ability, financially, to tour the world and continue making that great music that everyone so appreciates, then he will stop. It's that simple. Music will always be there, but as long as it's free, it will continue to decline in quality and quantity. Then, all we will have is Justin Bieber and Lady GaGa.

Rockoverdose.gr: Send A Message to your Greek Fans .Thank you very much for your time .

John: I love you all and hope to see you again someday!!!

Holiday's Evanescence March 4th

9 years with the band Evanescence

Evanescence was founded by singer, pianist and songwriter Amy Lee and former lead guitarist and songwriter Ben Moody. The two met in 1994 at a youth camp in Little Rock, where Moody heard Lee playing "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" by Meat Loaf on the piano.Their first songs together were "Solitude" and "Give Unto Me", both written by Lee, and "Understanding" and "My Immortal", both written by Moody. The songs were edited by both artists, and they shared equal credit.

Two of Lee and Moody's songs were played on local radio stations, raising local awareness of the group and demand for a concert. The band eventually appeared live, and became one of the most popular acts in the area. After experimenting with band names, such as Childish Intentions and Stricken, they decided on Evanescence, which means "disappearance" or "fading away" (from the word evanescence, which means "to disappear").

The band released two EPs. The first is the self-titled Evanescence EP (1998), of which about 100 copies were made and distributed at the band's early live performances. The second is the Sound Asleep EP, also known as the Whisper EP(1999). There was also a third EP called Mystary EP. For their first full-length demo CD, Origin, about 2,500 copies were produced and sold to concert audiences. Origin and the EPs contain demo versions of some of the songs on their debut album, Fallen. During a radio interview, Lee and Moody encouraged fans to download the band's older songs from the Internet.

November 4 - Launch of Origin
March 4 - Launch of Fallen

Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. After recording private albums, the band released their first full-length album, Fallen, on Wind-up Records in 2003. Fallen sold more than 17 million copies worldwide and helped the band win two Grammy Awards and seven nominations. A year later, Evanescence released their first live album, Anywhere but Home, which sold more than one million copies worldwide. In 2006, the band released their second studio album, The Open Door, which sold more than six million copies.

New look...!

Evanescence ▬▬►Will Hunt: Man On The Run

As the current go-to hard-rock session ace, Will Hunt is seemingly everywhere these days. But his return to Evanescence has reminded him what being a real bandmember feels like, and left him wondering if any one gig could ever be better than that.

Seeing Will Hunt onstage with Evanescence, or hearing him lay down big beats on the band’s new, self-titled album, it’s easy to conclude that this guy has earned a strong measure of success. And he wouldn’t disagree, except to add that there’s something in this gig that’s not so obvious but just as important to him.

For years, Hunt has been perhaps the top hired gun in the business. Like Josh Freese, he has become the go-to drummer for a number of headline acts. Among many others, he’s recorded or toured with Blood Simple, Black Label Society with Zakk Wylde, Crossfade, Dark New Day, Eye Empire, Mötley Crüe, Staind, and one of his drumming idols, Tommy Lee, both in and out of Lee’s Methods Of Mayhem. Getting to know and work with so many great players and outfits is an opportunity most musicians dream about. Here, too, Hunt would agree.

What makes his current affiliation with Evanescence feel different is that it’s giving Hunt something a lot of his colleagues might take for granted: a long run with his band, where he has historical, personal, and musical connections, as opposed to a filling in for someone else or being picked up just for a tour.

“It wasn’t by design,” Hunt admits. “With Evanescence, it took a long time and a lot of stuff to get to this point where we’re at right now. But I do realize that this is my home right now. I like being here. These are all my friends, including Amy [Lee, lead singer]. If we were all in the same town together, this would probably be the band that we put together.”
The Elements Of Rock

It is one of the more unusual affiliations in Hunt’s résumé. Best known as a solid rhythm generator, he puts his chops to use strictly to drive the music; his fills are utilitarian push rather than distraction from the groove. His predecessor in Evanescence, Rocky Gray, drew more from a thrash/metal background. With Hunt, the band feels more anchored. This is obvious throughout the new album: “What You Want” and “The Other Side” both open with a straight beat, in effect announcing that the drums are here to drive the performance. As “What You Want” unfolds, Hunt’s playing becomes gradually more complex, with military snare patterns, and shifts into half time. Yet always the beat is there – sometimes articulated only on the hi-hat, but persistent enough to never lose momentum.

As if to further underscore the power of Hunt’s playing, producer Nick Raskulinecz keeps the drums high in the mix. They thunder and boom with an almost ’80s sonic intensity, which not only adds muscle to the louder passages but provides an intriguing contrast with more delicate elements when things quiet down. Check out “My Heart Is Broken,” which opens with solo piano, mirrored a few seconds later with a mournful cello motif. When Hunt makes his explosive entrance, the shift in focus emphasizes this fragility in a different way while also clearing space for the crunchy guitar riffs that follow.

This is polished but elemental rock drumming, pared down to its core. Everything Hunt adds to these basics escalates their impact. This approach guides him on all his milestone recordings, but Evanescence might offer its clearest presentation. “I’m proud of this,” Hunt says. “I just focused on playing big beats to make the band sound heavy and powerful. It’s a bruiser!

“It would be very easy to overplay on Evanescence because everything is so open,” he continues. “But one of the first things I learned in making records is that you don’t want to step over the band and you certainly don’t want to step over the vocal. And for this band, the vocals are everything. My whole purpose is just to make it sound big and have this stupidly ridiculous deep pocket. It’s just power, man. It’s a different combination from what Amy has had before. Rocky comes from a different school; he’s really into Dave Lombardo and he can play super fast. I can’t play like that. I don’t want to. For me, it’s about pushing.”
